Chiefs Falcons highlights

The Kansas City Chiefs notched their first win of the preseason Friday night, coming out of Atlanta with a 28-14 win over the Falcons.

The game didn’t start out too smoothly for the Chiefs, who fell behind 14-3 in the first half, but after a 69-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Tyreek Hill near the end of the first half, the Chiefs cruised to victory with a solid performance from their second- and third-team players.

Atlanta got out to a 7-0 lead early on a touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to tight end Austin Hooper, then the Chiefs cut the lead to 7-3 early in the second quarter on a 25-yard field goal by Harrison Butker. Atlanta stretched the lead to 14-3 on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Matt Schaub to Calvin Ridley later in the second quarter before Mahomes connected with Hill with less than a minute to play in the half. 

Kansas City stretched the lead to 17-14 with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Chad Henne to Gehrig Dieter in the third quarter, then added a 49-yard field goal from Butker early in the fourth quarter. It became 28-14 not long after after a pick-six from linebacker Ben Niemann, which the Chiefs followed with a two-point conversion catch by Byron Pringle.
