A pair of British twin sisters could be sent to jail in Dubai after they were accused of assaulting a police officer and ‘cursing Arab womenâ.
Alena and Sasha Parker were arrested after a drunken night out in the Al Barsha district last August, police said.
The 37-year-olds, who work for the same law firm in Dubai, deny the charges againt them â but could be sentenced to three years in prison if found guilty.
At a hearing at Dubai Misdemeanours Court on Monday, details of the night in question emerged, the Daily Mail reported.
According to police records, the sisters were ‘intoxicatedâ in the strict Gulf state, and were ‘behaving outrageouslyâ.
When officers arrived at the scene, one was being treated in an ambulance by paramedics, police said.
They are accused of refusing to cooperate with police, before turning on a female police officer who had been told to guard them.
In a statement, the officer said: ‘They surprisingly attacked me, and I donât know why.
‘They assaulted me and pushed me down on the floor. I fell down and injured my head and elbow.
‘While they were being taken for an alcohol test, they cursed me and cursed Arab women. One of them also scratched my hand with her nails.â
Both twins pleaded not guilty to insulting, resisting arrest by and physically assaulting a policewoman, and were released on bail.
It is believed they could be jailed for three years.
A spokesman at their law firm said they deny the allegations.
Alena Parker is an associate at Al Safar & Partners, and her sister is a case manager for the law firm.
They often display an apparently glamorous life on social media, with Sasha Parker posting photos of them at pool parties and soaking up the sun.
